Stemke hired as volleyball coach
Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity made his first hire Wednesday, choosing Lizzy Stemke as the new head coach for the Bulldogs' volleyball team.

Stemke is a former assistant coach at Nebraska and a former All-American player at Wisconsin.
"Our search committee focused on a group of candidates who were exceptional student-athletes, worked for programs competing for national championships and were mentored by head coaches who are considered the finest in college volleyball," McGarity said in a release. "Our pool of candidates was exceptional, and Lizzy met and exceeded the expectations we had established as a committee to lead our volleyball program."
Stemke helped guide the Huskers to a 116-15 record and four NCAA championship appearances during her time with the program. In Big 12 play from 2007-10, the Huskers went 72-8 with three Big 12 titles.
